One of the effects has been the closure of local entertainment venues, but after months of closed doors, entertainment venues are able to reopen their doors for events with strict guidelines. Ann Arbor’s Michigan and State Theaters always highlight many of the great films cinema has to offer, from the latest blockbusters to the under-seen indies. They have reopened their doors with numerous safety procedures and are showing the great mix of films you’ve come to expect. The Michigan and State Theaters will be open on select days, with limited capacity and screenings, and has a Covid Safety Plan available online to inform guests of how they are disinfecting theaters in-between showings.
Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle in Royal Oak is welcoming audiences back for some laughs beginning this November. Nick Griffin will perform on Thursday, November 5 and will have more performances throughout the weekend. You can find their full calendar here along with their COVID-19 policy and guidelines. Ferndale’s Loving Touch has always been a go-to spot to catch up-and-coming artists in an intimate setting. While the venue doesn’t have any scheduled concerts until December, they are currently hosting free screenings of classic horror movies every night through Halloween. You will need to reserve your spots before the screening and seats will be spread throughout the auditorium to allow for social distancing. A popular venue for wine aficionados, Michigan By the Bottle Tasting Room always has something exciting on their event calendar. With locations in Auburn Hills, Royal Oak, and Shelby Township, you’re never too far from exciting wine tastings, cooking classes or exclusive dinners from the area’s best chefs. Those aforementioned events are still happening, however, all Michigan By the Bottle Tasting Room locations have cancelled upcoming live music events and a few locations have cancelled live trivia nights. Be sure to check the website for more information. 313 Presents is your one-stop shop for numerous venues across Metro Detroit including the Fox Theatre, DTE Energy Music Theatre, Little Caesars Arena, the Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel and many more. Many venues are currently hosting virtual events, such as Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood’s “Stream of Consciousness” comedy show through October 30.
